Endowed Scholarship Fund - Baseball

JAMES R. BRECKINRIDGE '67
MEMORIAL BASEBALL SCHOLARSHIP

His Brother Rats initiated this scholarship in 1976 to memorialize James R. Breckinridge who died of cancer in 1973.

A Distinguished Military Student, Breckinridge graduated from VMI with a Bachelor of Arts degree in history. "Breck (as he was called by his fellow cadets and teammates) was an outstanding athlete and captain of the baseball team. He played baseball and football all four years of his cadetship, lettering in both sports; he also played basketball as a Rat.

He matriculated from Fincastle, Virginia.

This scholarship is to be awarded to a VMI baseball player.

 

Cadet Matthew W. Flora '11 is recognized in the name of the James R. Breckinridge '67 Memorial Baseball Scholarship for the 2007-08 school year.
