W. E. "HAPPY" CHEYNE '19 SCHOLARSHIP


W. E. Cheyne

The W. E. "Happy" Cheyne '19 Scholarship was established in 1977 by bequest to provide scholarship assistance to a cadet-athlete. Preference is to be given to athletes from Hampton, Virginia, or the Virginia peninsula.

William Ethelbert Cheyne matriculated at VMI from Hampton, Virginia, and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering.

After graduation, he continued his father's business, The Cheyne Photography Studio, until 1963. This studio produced images of the citizens, landscape, businesses and architecture of Hampton from 1894 to 1963.

Mr. Cheyne died on November 12, 1976.
