MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Represented by Col. William H. Herbert and Mrs. Susan H. Herbert.

Alex Herbert '97

The Alex Herbert, VMI Class of 1997, Memorial Scholarship was established by Col. and Mrs. Herbert in honor of their son who was killed in an automobile accident over Christmas of his Rat year.

The scholarship provides grant-in-aid to a soccer athlete (or basketball athlete) at VMI.

Herbert matriculated at VMI from Herndon, Virginia. He was a Dean's List student in the history curriculum and an energetic participant in Army ROTC.

He was an extremely talented member of the VMI Golf Team.

As a Brother Rat, he is remembered as a warm, friendly and focused individual who was an inspiration to his entire class.

Cadet David C. Hill '11 (Men's  Soccer) is recognized in the name of
the Alex Herbert, VMI Class of 1997, Memorial Scholarship
for the 2007-08 school year.
