Mr. George G. Phillips, Jr. '60 and his mother, Mrs. Thelma R. Phillips, established this scholarship in 1971 in memory of their father and husband, respectively, namely, George G. Phillips, Sr. '25.

Phillips matriculated at VMI from Montclair, New Jersey, and graduated with a BS degree.

He was a very active alumnus, serving as president of the Keydet Club from 1954-57 (then called the Sportsmen's Club), and on the Board of Visitors from 1962-68.

He was president of Henderson & Phillips, In., in Virginia Beach.

Phillips died on Dec. 16, 1968.
