FOOTBALL SCHOLARSHIP

Represented by Mr. Selden S. Stone '38 of Weirton, West Virginia.

 

The Selden S. & Anna Margaret Stone '38 Football Scholarship was established by Mr. Stone in 1999 to provide scholarship for cadet football players at VMI.

Selden S. Stone matriculated at VMI from Clarksburg, West Virginia, and attended the Institute for one year. He was a member of the Keydet football and basketball teams. He served in the U.S. Army as a captain from 1942 to 1952, and was awarded the Purple Heart.

Mr. Stone worked for the Weirton, West Virginia, division of National Steel, from which he retired as superintendent of its Coke Plant.

He has served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Blast Furnace and Coke Oven Association.

He was married to Anna Margaret Ramage, who died on August 30, 1991.
