H.E. "HOBIE" DOYLE '09 MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

"Hobie" Doyle '09

The H.E. "Hobie" Doyle '09 Memorial Scholarship provides grant-in-aid for a first classman athlete who has lettered in his sport and demonstrated military and academic ability.

Hobie Doyle '09 was the founder and first president (1948-53) of the VMI Keydet Club.

He matriculated from Richmond, Virginia, and earned a civil engineering degree from Cornell University. During WWII, he achieved the rank of second lieutenant in the U.S. Army. He was a partner of Doyle & Russell, Inc., in Richmond, and died in 1965.

Doyle was presented with a VMI Hall of Fame Special Citation. He also served as president of the VMI Alumni Association from 1953-55.
