W. VERNON GILES '35 MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

Vernon Giles '35

The W. Vernon Giles '35 Memorial Scholarship was established in 1991 by Mr. Donald M. Giles '64 and his mother, Mrs. W. Vernon Giles, in honor of their father and husband, respectively.

The scholarship will be used to assist cadet-athletes, with first preference to cadets from E.C. Glass High School in Lynchburg.

After graduation from E.C. Glass, Mr. Giles matriculated from Lynchburg, Virginia, in the VMI Class of 1935, and graduated with a BA degree in liberal arts. As a cadet, he was an assistant manager for the football team for two years, and was captain of Company E and president of his 2nd Class Finance Committee.

He was a partner in Moore & Giles, and died on March 31, 1988.

Cadet Benjamin G. Brandt '10, VMI Football, is recognized in the name of the W. Vernon Giles '35 Scholarship for the 2007-08 school year.
