The Athletic Operations Fund (AOF) is an annual fund that is used for the sole purpose of funding NCAA Division I athletic operations at VMI. This can include anything from travel expenses to equipment needs. This fund is vital to the operation of VMI’s athletic programs because the Commonwealth of Virginia prohibits the use of public funds for athletic purposes.
The AOF is held by the VMI
Development Board, but all fund raising is performed by the VMI
Keydet Club, Inc.
Gifts to the AOF are totaled during each fiscal year (July 1 – June 30) and may count toward membership in the Keydet Club for the donor if an equal or greater gift is also made to the Keydet Club Scholarship Fund in the same year.
Gifts to the AOF are also
credited for:
Reveille: A Call To Excel Campaign
Class Annual Giving
Class Reunion Funds
Barracks Bricks (cumulative giving to any VMI fund of $2,500 on
or after 7/1/98)
In addition to the general AOF, there are also individual funds for each NCAA sport program at VMI. A gift to an AOF sport fund may count towards Keydet Club membership if at least 50% of the donor's annual Keydet Club gift is made to the Scholarship Fund.
